The Law in Focus January 2010
On Thursday January 28 The Law in Focus will interrupt its series with the Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary Mrs. Mavis Brooks-Salmon which started last week, to tap into the main issue of the week and the weeks to come, namely the last election for the Members Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles held on 22 January 2010.
The elections of Friday 22 January 2010 were historical, not just because one political party captured all the Parliamentary seats available for St. Maarten, resulting in an unprecedented shift in the balance of powers on the island, but more so because of the unusual short period the new Parliament will be in office.
The results of this last election will capture an important place in the history of the Kingdom, as will the live broadcast of Foundation EWA, which celebrated the twentieth anniversary of being on the air, bringing viewers and listeners on St. Maarten and surrounding islands, the election results live and direct in cooperation with the Main Voting Bureau. We thank Foundation EWA, the producers of Election Watch, for their cooperation by making parts of the live broadcast available to us.
On February 4 and 11, 2010 The Law in Focus will continue the broadcast of the interview with the Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary, Mrs. Mavis Brooks-Salmon.
