The Law in Focus March 2009
Starting on Thursday March 12th The Law in Focus will be presenting a series on tertiary education during the month of March 2009 by popular request. Quoting one of Nelson Mandela’s famous statements; “Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world”, the producers of the program invite young and old, students and professionals to tune in during the coming weeks to learn more about tertiary education, and hopefully be inspired to pick up on ones education to move on.
In this day and age of rapid change, economic crises globally, and even a powerful nation like the USA refocusing its attention on education, not just on primary level, but more so on higher education, it behooves us to take note. If big industrialized countries like the USA and European nations realize that the world has changed, and that we must change with it, what about us?
Responsibility and discipline, courage, character and self-esteem are tools we need individually and collectively to build a sustainable economy. We need to prepare our human resources beyond primary and secondary education; education on higher levels is key.
We start the series with a conversation with Dr. Maria Cijntje-van Enkevort, former Dean of the USM, now living in Belgium, as she explains tertiary education in the various educational systems, including our own USM, followed by interviews with professionals in the field, and much more.
Dr. Nilda Arduin,
