The Law in Focus September 28th, 2009
As long as incidents of domestic violence have not stopped, the voices against
this societal ill cannot remain silent. On Thursday September 24th last The Law
in Focus started a four program series on the issue with interviews with USA
based attorney-at-law Barbara Washington-Franklin, author of the book titled “When
You’re Down To Nothing, God Is Up To Something”.
Though American
and Antillean law differ basically, the issues plaguing our societies are similar.
As such speaking with legal professionals from abroad can be refreshing and enlightening,
bringing innovative approaches to the table worthwhile to take note of. The series
on domestic violence will be followed by a series of conversation with yet another
legal professional from the USA, Judge Patricia Martin, Presiding Judge of the
Child Protection Division/Juvenile Justice Department in Cook County, Chicago.
Both series are highly recommended, while the viewer and listeners are encouraged
to take notes.
