The Law in Focus

The Law in Focus is a 30 minute weekly television program featuring common topics of law which are of interest to the general public and hosted by Dr. Nilda Arduin. The program is televised on St. Maarten Cable TV channel 15 every Thursday night at 9:30pm. It is aired again on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. You can also see it in Saba and Statia on Monday evenings at 7:00pm on Cable TV Saba & Statia, and is hosted by Dr. Nilda Arduin, Managing Director, and lawyer/consultant of Burofocus.

During each week’s program persons with knowledge and experience regarding the topics of the show will be interviewed, or the topic of the current program discussed by Dr. Arduin with illustrations of real life or reconstructed examples.

The overall value of the program is aimed at providing the viewers with a better knowledge of basic issues covered by the law, which in turn will eventually lead to better understanding and tolerance among the citizens, as well as a more assertive, and productive society. Everyone should endeavor to know the law.

The producer of the program, Foundation Focus, is sure that the production will be valuable not only to Sint Maarten, but also to the other islands of the Netherlands Antilles, in particular Saba and St. Eustatius, as well as neighboring islands like Anguilla, St. Kitts & Nevis and Antigua, as Sint Maarten has frequent visitors and many residents of these islands who shuld be familiar with the Antillean law.

The concept has been designed by Dr. Arduin, President of Foundation Focus, whose experience as an attorney and involvement in the community enables her to select and direct the topics to be presented professionally. Questions can be forwarded to the host of the program for consideration as potential topics of subsequent programs.
